The trolls meet at searchdomino.com and of course I do not miss the opportunity to read the comments about this searchdomino.com article: Keep it simple Interesting to know that a lot of people commenting on searchdomino have never heard of Ed Brill, maybe a good explanation why some are still confused. And I am even more confused on comments like: I work for a large (multi-billion dollar) international financial company, and we've been using Notes as our preferred collaboration and messaging platform for a long time. Partly due to the uncertainty about the roadmap for Notes we've already moved to Exchange as our mail-platform. First of all I am quite surprised how many people are working at multi billion companies. Sometimes I think this has something to do with the possibility to post without revealing your real identity !? I always thought that Websphere and Workplace and all the other stuff is the best partner for large companies. I would be more than happy to know why multi-billion companies do not jump on the Websphere train. Unfortunately the whole story more and more becomes a deja vu event for me. This time I will close my rant with a success story for IBM Lotus Notes. Canon India is currently spreading their CRM solution based on Notes in the whole Asia Pacific region. I have never done much CRM business because I always thought that Notes, in the long run, has problems with the amount of data that is involved in a full featured CRM application but with the DB/2 option coming next year it could be that especially in this area, Notes might have a comeback. The workflow and messaging capabilities of Notes and Domino combined with a scaling DB/2 datastore sounds really interesting. |
